I don’t know about where you are but, it is going to be close to 25 degrees where I am this weekend
and THAT calls for refreshing drinks on my back deck!
Who doesn’t love mixing up fun and pretty new drinks to sip on while hanging out with some great friends enjoying the sunshine?
However, most of the time the kind of drinks that are being mixed include some sort of alcohol which as we know- dehydrates you! Not to mention sugar and calorie content in alcohol that I am just not the biggest fan of when I am trying to get ready for bikini season!
(Don’t get me wrong I love an alcohol bevvy from time to time, but moderation is key).
Anywho..
I never was a mojito fan because I despise rum and that is the alcohol ingredient, I also was never a mint chlorophyll fan simply because I don’t like my water tasting like mint. Alas, I have found a happy medium!
A mint chlorophyll virgin mojito! Jackpot.
Chlorophyll is esentially the “blood” part of plants, that makes them green. The amazing thing about chlorophyll is that it is extremely similar to human blood with the only difference being the center atom. Nature is incredible isn’t it?!
Chlorophyll is also great for detoxifying the blood, making water more recognizable & therefore bioavailable for the body, it is also great for helping with bad breath. Do you even need anymore reasons to get this green goodness into you?
Here is a satisfying recipe for a healthy, detoxifying, refreshing summer drink!
1 tsp mint chlorophyll (I like Trophic brand but there are many available)
1/2 lime
1-2 tsp maple syrup or a few drops of stevia to sweeten
6 large mint leaves
Ice
Sparkling Water
Directions:
Place lime and mint in a glass and muddle with a pestle or the end of a wooden spoon.
Fill tall glass 3/4 full with ice
Top with sparkling water + mint chlorophyll
Stir & garnish with mint leaves & slice of lime!
Let me know how it goes, or if you choose to make any variations of this delicious refresher!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Love & sunlight!
